Vito Tests His Boundaries

Hi! My name is Stacee Brown. I am a professional dog trainer, homeschool mom and wife to an artist/engineer. I love working with families and their dogs.

Our Vito is now a little over 6 months old. He’s officially an adolescent and has started to test his boundaries. He has been an independent puppy from day 1 and loves to explore. Exploration is part of being a dog. Over the next couple of days, we are going to be remote collar conditioning Vito. This will allow us to have an invisible leash communication, up to 1/2 mile away. When conditioned and trained appropriately, remote collars are a wonderful addition to your dogs toolbox.

Pro tip…When I teach families how to condition their dog, I try to get them to put everything in one hand. Leash (looped over my finger), remote transmitter (placed in my hand with finger/thumb on the button), clicker (if using, positioned to click with my ring finger). This leaves a free hand to deliver the rewards. As the least coordinated person on the planet, it took a lot of practice to get the patterns. This setup makes life a whole lot easier and your timing will improve.
